Birdman,
What's up with the Griz? Did they barely escape with a win over UC DAVIS? What is up with that? UC Davis played the Griz close last year too. Chase Reynolds has had two good games but I don't know if I like the fact that Mariani only has 6 catches for 92yards in two games though. At this time last year, he had 10 catches for 246 yards and 4 touchdowns. Is it the lost of Cole Berquistt? From what you know, does Roper have the timing with Mariani that Berquistt had? Man, does he even throw the ball to him as often? Or is the Griz becoming a running team? Reynolds has 43 carries in two games. Is he the Michael Turner of the Griz? 6-0 195. He is not a huge kid.

UC Davis is a good young team on the rise and their offense looked good. The Griz D was in a bend don't break mode and gave up a lot on the under. That is why the stats looked so good for Davis but they had so few points. Trumaine Johnson, the stud young Griz corner, had two end zone picks (although the second one was on the last play of the game and due to some desperation). Roper has split time with Selle (which is another dumb Bobby move because neither can get consistency going with the receivers). Selle looked better this game but Roper looked better the first game against Western State. Neither has wowed thus far against two defenses that they should easily throw on. Chase has looked like Chase. He is just bowling people over and forcing his will on the D. Trust me, he is legitimate!!! Mariani didn't get too many looks against Davis because they were focusing the secondary on him the whole time. I guess people know a little more about him this year. He is also being hurt by Mike Ferriter's graduation as he doesn't have another receiver to take the D's attention away from him. All in all, I am not disappointed but I am not impressed either. Conference play opens up against Jerry "Where's Elvis" Glanville's Portland State team in Missoula this weekend.---
