LOGIC: Lakers get rid of Gasol who since Mike D'Antoni arrived has been pretty much getting phased out of the Lakers plans. On top of that, Gasol has regressed and many blame him for the Lakers having to bring all of this expensive talent in so with that, the frequent year after year trade talks finally end as Gasol goes to Minnesota. Gasol wants more touches in the post and D'Antoni wants a power forward who can spread the floor. Williams and Bargnani does this perfectly for D'Antoni while still getting younger with and accomplishing the goal of better complimenting the future franchise star in Dwight Howard.

LOGIC: Minnesota has coveted Pau Gasol for a while and it has been reported earlier that they were building a package around Derrick Williams and Nikola Pekovic. If they are willing to trade throw-ins Luke Ridnour or JJ Barea (I can't see why not b/c they have enough depth at PG.) who are very close in salary and Memphis does not push for Budinger instead of Martell Webster, I can't see this not working. The best thing to do it to think Vlade Divac in the final stages of his career with Rick Adelman in Sacramento. He went to Sacramento at 30 and played 7 long years there. Gasol is 32 fits that role perfectly. He gets paired with emerging superstar Kevin Love and Adelman gets the two passing big men he loves. Gasol won't give The T-Wolves the Divac flopping but he still has to skills to flourish in an offense like this for years. Also, that pairs him back-up with his Spanish National teammate Ricky Rubio.

LOGIC: Firstly, Toronto has added C Valanciunus, PF, C Amir Johnson, C, Aaron Gray and PF,C Ed Davis all in the last few years. Does that sound like a team in love with the oft-injured Spaniard PF, C Andrea Bargnani. Well, they finally get rid of their former number #1 overall pick. From one soap opera to another, Toronto's on and off love relationship with Jose Calderon finally ends as he will probably not be retained anyway in the offseason. They don't get a superstar but they get the best player they have had since Vince Carter. Kyle Lowry and Rudy Gay are a pretty good combination to matchup with young athletic guys like Demar Derozan who just signed an extension, Amir Johnson and Ed Davis. Also, they still bring Landry Fields, Greg Stiemsma and Bayless in as quality bench players. Some would say this is where Bayless resurrected his career so he ends up back where he wanted to be the whole time and Toronto comes out cheaper than the 4.2 million dollar offer they withdrew last summer. Lastly, they get summer league sensation Josh Selby as a throw in.

LOGIC: Memphis has a brand-new ownership and a revamped front office. John Hollinger and Jason Levien are in, longtime personnel gurus the Barones are out, and Chris Wallace’s current level of power as holdover GM is unclear. They had an exciting 2011 playoff run without Gay and that is not far from their minds. Also, they still come out with high draft pick Terrenece Ross who fills the much needed shooting void that Memphis has been clamoring about for years. By no means does Memphis get better with this trade but they can clear some space for next year because they don't have much relief coming next off of their 74 million dollar payroll next year. Additionally, if they wanted to save this year and Minnesota is interested in not trading Howard, Webster and Amundson to eat and few more dollars and keep some more of their depth, Memphis could save another 2.7 million dollars off of the 4 million they are over the luxury tax threshold this year. This deal is good financially for Minnesota either way.
