Beach,
I guess I have to be the first one to say it since both of you are being quite silent on the real subject and that is Suck-troit Basketball. Let's proclaim right here and right now:
YOU WILL NOT LIKE VILLANUEVA!!!!!!
He plays soft, does not play defense, does not rebound as evidenced by his career 6.3 rebounds per game and he shoots WAY too many threes as his career 743 attempts explain. I like Ben Gordon even though he is a low percentage (career 43.7%) volume shooter that does not get other people involved( career 3 assists) but he makes clutch shots. I think Headband Charlie is a selfish player and now that he has the money, he will get worst as a player and he will bring the pistons down UNLESS they get a banger type true center who rebounds and defends above average to play alongside of him and let's face the facts and say that Chris Wilcox, Kwame Brown and a last leg Ben Wallace does not fit that mold. So, just like the Michigan Wolverines have the talent pool and found a way to mess it up (Rich Rodriquez), the Pistons had the money and signed a undersized "shoot too much" two guard and a weak power forward. With that being said, there will be no 8th spot in the east for the Pistons. Toronto replaces the Pistons my brothers.
JUSTIN AKA "JUST IN FROM THE BEACH" BEACH RESPONDS:
Where do I begin? I guess I will start here..... As much as I dont want to say it but you are right about the former Huskie. I didnt like him in college and I really dont like him now. I agree with you completely that he doesn't fit into the DETROIT system. He is another Rasheed minus the talent and the shooting ability. Dwyer and I have been saying all along that we wanted to get a true center (Boozer or the dude from Toronto).
We wanted somebody that could play with there back to the basket. I do like Mr. Gordon thought. If there is anything that DETROIT can do is change a person's attitude (Rasheed). Wallace was known as a loud mouth trouble maker and nobody thought he would be a good fit. Now he still is a loud mouth but he has not been the problem that everybody thought he would be, including me, I will admit it. They have needed somebody that get his own shot when the offense isn't working and Iverson was NOT the answer. HaHa, the answer get it, sorry.
I think the team aspect will have some effect on him and he wont be as much of a ball hog as he is now. There is the potential that Gordon and baldy will get into a "I'm the man" mind frame and start taking every shot they get. If thats the case, then this season is a wash.
