NBA Playoffs so far
Okay. Right now, I can consider my Pick 'N Roll Bracket on NBA.com a success. So far, it seems like all of my teams I picked will make it out of the first round. Most competent NBA fans had the same picks all the way through but some people stumbled on two series that are 3-1 a piece. Some people thought the Phoenix would beat San Antonio and some people thought that Washington would beat Cleveland. If you can believe it, I had Phoneix at first but my superior NBA mind told me otherwise and I changed it in the nick of time. I realized that I simply tried to break down the series too much and not stay with the basic prinicple of any Spurs series. THE SPURS WILL KEEP ANY GAME CLOSE BECAUSE OF THEIR DEFENSE AND IF YOU CAN'T STOP A GINOBOLI- DUNCAN PICK AND ROLL, YOU WILL ALMOST CERTAINLY LOSE EVERYTIME. It really came down to me saying do I think Ginoboli or Nash is a better finisher at the rim? That was easy. Ginoboi is much better at being a dual passing and scoring threat when he has the ball in his hands and as good or not good as Steve Nash may be, his limitations is his athleticism so he will have a tough time scorer over a bigger defender if he is forced to shoot the ball. On top of that, enter Bruce Bowen and you have a Suns lost. Now, the Suns actually came out and showed some heart or is it really heart? Chris Webber, who is a fake superstar in my mind ( that is a entirely different blog), said it is easy to win a game being down 3-0 at home and then go back to San Antonio and lose. His biggest thing was where was this effort in Game 3? I hate to agree with a guy who called timeout at the end of a game WHEN HE DID NOT HAVE ANY and missed tons of clutch shots in his career but for once, I agree with him. The Suns futile attempt to say we did not want to get swept now only cost the team another flight to San Antonio. Who cares? You still lose and now a few more Nash supporters are probably getting in the Chris Paul line.

I think I gave phoenix to much credit thinking they would last 7 games with the defending champ. I guess that shaq deal was a pretty big bust. he is on the down side of his career and to think he had anything left in the tank to help phoenix to a championship was foolish thinking. and as far as my bracket everything is rounding into shape I got a little scared with the pistons but I remember when they won the championship they had problems with Orlando in the first round and then they woke up. And like I told you before Chris Paul should be the league MVP. It would be a disgrace if he lost it.
Jason,
The Shaq deal is a bust to me because of the 40 million dollars and two years left on Shaq's deal. Unless Phoenix had traded for another perimeter defender who could have guarded Ginoboli and allowed Raja Bell to guard Tony "French Rapper" Parker, there doom to the San Antonio Spurs was almost still a lock in my eyes. Shaq is really doing a good job but the inability to stop Parker and Ginoboli always becomes a factor when the game is close. In the first game, Ginoboli took over in the second overtime with drives to the basket and that heartbreaking lost was something that many teams would not have been able to recover from.
As far as the Pistons go, there is no doubt in my mind that they wil not make it to the finals. They are too inconsistent and simply a product of what I have been saying since i was in Michigan. Flip Saunders is weak and uninspiring and I just hope that Dumars can see that and gets rid of him because he is the problem. They will beat Philly but will lose to Boston.
Lastly, by virtue of the best record in the league, I think Kobe has Chris Paul beat by the slimmest of margins but Paul is dynamic and is playing like a monster.
It ain't over til it's over. That's why they play the games.
It was nice to read your comments on the ballyhooed Spurs and Suns, but I want know your avid opinion on the Hornets and the Pistons. The Hornets are the dark horse. New Orleans lead by CP3 is the new exciting up and coming team. You’re living right in the heart of the next potential NBA dynasty. Let us know what’s really happening. Use this Blog to give us the real scoop. However, without saying you should always pay homage to the DEEEEEE TROIT Basketball team (The beast in the east). Remember I told you that Cleveland and Boston will cancel each other and the Pistons will pick up the scraps. Ditto for the cancellation of the entire western conference. Let me leave you with some thoughts
Detroit vs. Utah?
Detroit vs. New Orleans?
Detroit vs. Los Angeles?
Nah!
Detroit vs. San Antonio??
Maybe.
But first let’s see what this Hornets team can do.
What do you think?
David,
I picked LA vs. Boston in my NBA.com bracket. I see you don't envision a possible scenario where Boston makes it. Honestly , I don't think Boston or Detroit looks strong right now but I picked Boston because they have the homecourt. I know everyone in D-Town believes that the route through Orlando will allow the Pistons to be fresh when the time comes but we will see.
Realist, I agree that LA and Boston may end up in the finals. However, with the hard time they're having with the Hawks I don't think they'll hang with any team out of the West for a 7 game series...Those Lakers look really hard to beat at this point and time, but we'll see. If their defense holds and they play that spurs pick and roll correctly, it's a wrap!!
